Since November 2003, Astaria, (a-STARI-ee-a), which means, in Greek, the stars has been located in the historic Benjamin Franklin Hotel.  Prior to opening the restaurant, owners Eleni Lolas and Alicia Petrakis, San Mateo natives and friends owned and operated Astaria Catering for eight years.  Their passion for people, food and entertaining reveals itself in the care and attention given to every detail.

Today, Astaria has simultaneously revitalized Downtown San Mateo with it’s American-Mediterranean fusion menu and redefined the dining experience with live entertainment and seasonal menus in it’s elegant yet casual dining atmosphere.
